From Agar to Porcelain, launched by Bernardaud in 2015 this set of luxury dinnerware displays groups of photogenic bacterial species. These images were created by that visual artist Vik Muniz and biological engineer Tal Danino while Muniz participated in an arts residency at MIT.
Each plate captures a different colony or type of bacteria including the titles: Diffuse Salmonella, Chiral Jam, Tepid Tip-Splitters, Tip-Splitting Morphotype, Bacteria Chirality, Chiral Colony, and Soft Splitting Bacteria.
Why we love it? Because salmonella has never been so appetizing.
